The new Tielcey Park Riding Club is a chance for anyone, both young and old, to come and spend some time with other horse people where you can learn, play and simply enjoy yourself. It doesn’t matter what discipline you enjoy, whether you’re experienced or just starting out – anyone is welcome. You can come with a horse or without, or you can use one of the quiet Tielcey Park horses on the day (subject to availability).

When does it meet?

The Riding Club meets at Tielcey Park on the last Sunday of each month at 9.00 am until around about noon. Riding Club members are encouraged to stay on for lunch at the Tielcey Park Cafe, so you can chat with your fellow Riding Club members about what you learnt that morning.

What will I get from the Club?

Each Riding Club day will be different. We will have a different invited guest/instructor each day so you mightget a chance to try western riding, learn about polo or polocrosse, learn how to lunge effectively, have a dressage lesson, try some jumping, learn some horsemanship techniques or simply listen to a great speaker.

How much will it cost?

To join the Riding Club for a year is a small fee of $20.00 per adult, $10 per child or $30 for a family We will then ask that you pay a $10 ground levy on each club day.

What happens if it’s raining on the day?

Wet weather is never a problem at Tielcey Park as we have a huge indoor arena where that day’s instruction can take place. So don’t let the rain stop you from coming to a Riding Club day.

Sounds like fun. How do I join?

The next Riding Club day will be held on Sunday 29 June. Please email Sue Leathwick by clicking here at if you would like to come along. We will ask that you pay the $10 levy for that day, and you can join the Riding Club on the day. To make it worthwhile for the guest instructor, we will need a minimum number to attend, so it is important that you let Sue know if you can come. You can also phone Sue in the evenings on 06 353 8134 if you have any questions.
