Pleasure Horse Nationals

HorseTraderAd.jpg

Tielcey Park’s goal is to run a super duper show for true pleasure horses and ponies, so that everybody attending has a great day out and enjoys their horses and ponies. That is after all why we ride… for pleasure!

This show has been organised for fun. Our aim is for everybody to take home lots of ribbons - we will guarantee everyone will go home with at least four ribbons. If you do not win four ribbons please come to the office after the show for your choice of ribbons.

Thankyou to those of you who have been kind enough to send us feedback - on how we can improve the show for next year - we are committed to hosting this annually, and are happy to help other areas who wish to run regional pleasure horse shows.  Overall we had great feedback as to the day, but if you have any other suggestions - please fire these through.

Latest News

As of this morning, we have 51 entries in the show – well done everyone! We have a few important notices to bring to your attention:

Rings
We don’t have as many entries in the 10 and under and 11-16 age-groups as we expected. So we have made some changes as follows:
  • 10 and Under and 11-16 Rings will run in one ring under one judge – we will still have Best Pleasure Mounts for each age group though.
  • The 17 and Over Ring will be split into two rings – 17-35 years and 36 years and over. If you have NOT entered the rider class, please let me know which age-group you fall into. We will have an additional title, sash and trophy!
Barefoot Title
We have a new title – Best Barefoot horse. There is no charge to enter this class – and the winner will receive a sash and a trophy. If your horse is barefoot, please let me know so that I can enter you.

Fancy Dress
We have only five entries for this very exciting class – come on people, we can do better than this! Everyone who enters gets a professional photo emailed to them by Story Time photography. More adults need to enter (we already have a few – let’s get more).

Teams
We have four teams entered so far – winners get medals and sashes plus trophies to keep! As we would like to give more people the chance to form teams – we are removing the restriction of having a child under 12. If you have entered already with a child, that is your team! But if not, please let me know if you would like to be part of a team, or could form your own team now. An email is fine. Remember, you need three or four people to form a team– the top three cumulative scores count!

Late Entries
Yes I am accepting late entries up until Friday 29th January – so let your friends know that they can fax (06 353 3536) or email them to me, and then follow up by posting the entry form and cheque, or just depositing the money into our bank account (number on the Entry Form).
If you have entered the show already and on the day would like to enter additional classes, or change classes, you can do this for the normal entry fee (if applicable). But only if you’ve entered your horse by Friday 29th January.

As always – if you have any questions, please feel to email or phone Margo (06 353 3533 or 021 741 772) 2

  • Everdien Lethaby of Hira Labs who has sponsored items for the Show Bag and for our judges. Tielcey Park use Hira Labs excellent products for ourselves, our horses and our dogs. Check them out online : www.hiralabs.co.nz

  • Greer Geraghty from Stirling Sports has sponsored the Teams Trophy. Stirling Sports sell an amazing range of sports gear and wear in Palmerston North - become a fan on their Facebook Page!
  • Damian Day from Damian Day Photography has sponsored the Best Pleasure Horse 10 years and under - thanks Damian, we love your photos (after all, you aren't Tielcey Park's Official Photographer for no reason!) and can't wait to see more of them on your website
  • Tania Patterson from Brightside Farm has sponsored the Best Pleasure Mount 11-16yrs Ring AND the Best National Pleasure Mount Trophy - how awesome is that!
  • Jo Spence from Storytime Photography has sponsored the Fancy Dress competition and the Fancy Dress trophy - and the winner will receive a framed 8 x 10 photo from Jo as well! Also, everyone who enters the fancy dress will get a digital photo emailed to them. Jo will also give the overall National Pleasure Horse an 8 x 10 framed photo. Thanks Jo, we can't wait to see your photos!
  • Catherine Graham from Equilibrium Minerals will provide sample pots (500g) to each competitor in the show bags - PLUS the National Pleasure Horse will win a 5kg bucket as a prize.  At Tielcey Park all our horses are fed Equilibrium Mineral Mix every day - from broodmares with foals at foot right up to our stallion, JK Latano, and they look fabulous.  We have tried very many mineral mixes over the years - and Equilibrium is our pick of the best on the NZ market.

We are still confirming sponsors but decided to publish the programme before Christmas so that people will have enough time to decide which classes to enter and to dream up a great fancy dress outfit. Thank you to everyone else who has generously offered sponsorship – you will all be acknowledged in the show schedule.

Customer Feedback:

Wonderful to see the programme for the Pleasure compeition in Feb. Cant wait! Glad to see it is true pleasure- no plaiting or jackets. Have been to a couple of ribbon days where the rules havent been followed and alot are not true pleasure horses. Hope you will stick to the rules on the day. Keep up the good work. I'll be there! " Nicola Smyth

Riding for pleasure and fun - at last! I love it - congratulations ! - Phyll

"What a delightful idea - I've sent this on to our Hutt Valley PC members. Well done." - Carla

"I just want to say - AWESOME IDEA on the pleasure horse show - wow how much fun that would be - I have a lovely horse but I have been laughed out of so many A & P shows because he is ever so slightly pigeon toed and dishes a bit, even though his manners and behaviour out shine the rest of the horses there! It would be so nice to come to a show where he may stand a chance of a ribbon or at least not to be looked at in horror because he isn't totally perfectly conformed! However sadly I am too far away. But I just wanted to say what a fabulous idea and I wish there were more shows out there like this - because even the "adult riding club fun gymkhanas" up here are like mini A & P shows with all of the top wigs coming out with their horses for exposure - and of course just like at the A & P shows they win every single class and leave us people who go to them for fun out in the cold and not having fun! I even had a judge once say to me in front of the rest of the competitors after our workouts - "your horse deserves to win - excellent controlled workout - but I like the other horse better"! the other horse couldn't trot and lost control but still won - go figure! :(

I can't wait to see the coverage of your show - and if I could afford to I would love to sponsor a class - so maybe in the new year if I have recouped some xmas spending I can sponsor even one class for you guys :)

Kind regards"
RC

Fantastic idea Margo,

I am drumming up interest amongst our barefoot hacking club here in Waikanae and we will be sending in our entries as soon as possible.

Looking forward to the 7th Feb!

Sponsorship Needed

This show is not designed to make money, our costs are quite large – and we need more sponsorship to help us break even. If you can help out in any way able to provide sponsorship in the way of money or prizes – please let me know

We would like to make this an annual event – provided everyone has heaps of fun of course (and if they don’t we have a “Fun” sub-committee to cheer anyone up who isn’t having fun!)

Money
This show is not designed to make money – but because we have expenses we need to cover them – if we make a loss we just can’t afford to run the show again next year.

Rings - $100 each – We have the 10 and under ring available

Best Pleasure Mount for each ring - these are sponsored, thankyou!

Big Trophies - these are sponsored, thankyou!

Individual Miniature Trophies - $25 each – we have the Best National Pleasure Mount and the Best Fancy Dress miniatures available

Team Miniature Trophies (3 or 4 miniatures): $50 per set – we have the Best National Pleasure Mount Team miniatures available

Team Medals - $65/set – we have the gold, silver and bronze medals available

Fancy Dress Title - this is sponsored, thankyou!

Classes in all three rings - $10/class – we have all classes available

Best National Pleasure Mount Title Class - $200 – This is still available

Best National Pleasure Mount Team Title Class - $200 – this is still available

Prizes
Spot Prizes - Anything and everything
We would like to give competitors prizes for each “best” class – something a little more substantial, but small is treasured… and perhaps spot prizes - eg. World's Best Hoof Oil are sponsoring rider who has the most fun!

Show Bags
Each competitor will get a show bag – we include something from each sponsor plus small items to remind competitors of the show (eg. We already have magazines and key rings donated but would like someone to donate the bags and other small show bag items)
