Feilding A&P Show

TP Latrose - 1st Two year old sport horse; 1st Filly 1-3 Years

Latrose was such a super star, 2nd real show (first was as a foal) and third bath - happy to stand and be hosed properly this time - not just dribbled - including in the face, but the most amazing thing was the "siliconization" as I call it. I usually add silicon/show sheen/etc to a bucket of water and sponge it over them after they've rinsed off. But I couldn't find my show sheen, but did find a can of silicon from Repco. So, I decided to spray it over her - all over her body, legs, tail and even the face (I covered her eye and nose).  I can officially say she is "spray proof" - she didn't bat an eye and even sniffed at me as it was happening to investigate further.  I even had to show a friend who didn't believe me (honestly, I wouldn't have believed it myself!)

After our classes finished we went to look at the show hunter ring and she stuck her head into the big rubbish bin to see exactly what it contained... didn't care when my cap blew off and landed around her back legs... nor was bothered by the flying pieces of newspaper (it was blowing a gale). She did take a second look at the coloured ponies... but once she figured they were just ponies that was boring too.

Then I took her to stand inside the big indoor arena by the ambulance at first.  The ambulance officers marvelled at how quiet she was... "how do you train them?" one asked me.  I just shrugged and said, "they're born like it".

Then we moved in the little "exit ring" so I could see the jumping more clearly - and Latrose and I watched some of the 1m30 SJ championship horses do their thing.  After all, this is what she's been bred for!  But it appears she isn't all that fussed by the loud speaker, the lights, the clapping or the horses - like a real baby she got a bit bored and had a wee snooze.

All in all an enjoyable day out - I just love my Latano's.
