Breeders Talk About Latano

We love our stallion - not only for his own characteristics - but those he passes onto his progeny. As such we could give you hundreds of reasons to breed to him, but we think the best words come from those who have bred to him... our client breeders..."

"Latano was an obvious choice to me when I was searching for a breeding stallion. Latano is a beautifully bred stallion of modern type. He is built for performance and possesses true uphill confirmation and tremendous power. Latano is everything I want in a performance horse. His height also appealed to me - as I am tall, I wanted to breed a tall horse!!

Latano's temperament is another appealing aspect. His gentle nature and kind eye make him such a pleasant stallion to handle. Latano has passed on all these characteristics to my foal. I am absolutely thrilled with Lorenz (my foal) who has so far demonstrated Latanos looks, temperament and movement - and being 15.3 at 1 year old - has also inherited his height!!

Lorenz is a joy to handle and possesses Latano's beautiful kind eye. I love just sitting in the paddock watching him move. His beautiful suspended trot and huge floating canter make me very excited for his future.

I plan to breed another Latano foal this season. Latano has proved he passes on all his qualities to his foals, and I could not ask for a better foal then Lorenz. I look forward to the arrival of my next Latano foal! "

"For me breeding a foal was about breeding a horse that would perform and also be highly trainable. I was ultimately after an alrounder that had the temperament and ability to excel in a number of different disciplines.

Latano is a sire that that has incredible good looks, conformation, ability and an elegant presence. When looking at his progeny they all have the Latano stamp and it was this prepotency that helped me decide he was the stallion for my TB mare.

Lighieri is everything I had ever hoped for - he is upstanding and athletic - at just 2 months old he floats around the paddock practicing his flying changes. He is confident and friendly with a huge character- I couldn't ask for more."

"I had a very beautiful Holsteiner mare by Urban (now deceased) that I wanted to breed a dressage horse from. My first choice was the sire JK Lucas sire of JK Latano who had proven himself and had movement to die for. Being in the South Island and Lucas not doing AI using him was not an option. I heard that Keith had a young stallion by Lucas, "Latano", and he had told a friend of mine was that this was the best horse he had ever bred.

I was very interested as the blood line which goes back to a stallion in Australia Latano's grandsire "Landa" who was known for leaving big horses with exceptional temperaments which is very important to me. On looking at Latano I saw that he had carried through some of the wonderful attributes as his sire and grandsire, size, temperament, and big suspended movement. Thus I decided he was the Stallion for me.

I now have a loverly big gelding by Latano that stands approximately 15.2/3 as a yearling, he has a wonderful laid-back nature and lovely rhythmic movement and has an elegance about him to boot, so I couldn't have hoped for more.

If my boy is anything to go buy I would recommend Latano as a stallion to anyone."

"I have a lovely, powerfully built Holsteiner mare of excellent breeding, and a wonderful nature, and I decided to breed a foal from her. In New Zealand these days there are many wonderful stallions from which to choose. We are becoming almost spoilt for choice! However I am so fond of my mare that I decided that a foal which was most likely to carry her physical and mental characteristics would be the ideal. The elegant, powerful and placid JK Latano, with his wonderful nature and marvellous paces seemed to be the ideal match. He has a presence of strength and quiet dignity, combined with grace and athleticism, and carries all of the desirable characteristics of the Holsteiner breed. In addition, these horses have been so carefully bred that one knows what kind of a foal to expect, something which cannot be said for all stallions, no matter how lovely they appear to be. Holsteiner stallions are outstandingly prepotent. I can hardly wait for my foal to arrive, because I know for certain that a truly wonderful sport horse has been bred!"

"My foals are really beautiful and have the most wonderful placid yet inquisitive natures, and they show great intelligence, along with the other attributes which yours have. They are a pleasure and a delight to handle and to observe."
